It is situated in the highest hill of the city, and, according to some opinions, it is the original location of Tremp. It is a place of confluence of different suburbial streets that come from the Creu Square. In the Medieval Period, the space between Peiró Square and the urban part was not inside the walls. In this there were agricultural premises, pens and eras, some of which are present nowadays. In the South one can see the old Caputxins Convent, a building built in the 1627, which hosted a community of this congregation until the middle of the XIX Century. This became in a hospital for poor people. It was the Hospital of Tremp until the year 1992, which became in a geriatric residence (The Fiella Foundation). This was the name of the residence’s founder in 1521. Near of this building there is the actual Hospital of Tremp, the Hospital of Pallars, a modern centre that guarantees the sanitary attention for the inhabitants of Pallars Jussà and Pallars Sobirà. |
