Castissent (721 meters) is situated at 27 kilometers in the South-West of Tremp and it is accessible by a rural paved runway of less more than 4 kilometers that starts in the road C-1311, which goes from Pont de Montanyana to Tremp.
Its location, from a strategic point of view, is exemplar. The crest in which it is, more above of Toral de l’Aleixó, links with the place where there was the town of Montserbós, which is said to be the original location of Castissent.
Castissent is not like the town which is formed by grouped houses. The centre of the town is built in a platform where there are the rests of the castle, the Church of Sant Joan Baptista and the cemetery; and around all this one can find a lot of farmhouses which configure the dispersed town of Castissent. The farmhouses of Castissent are: Ca l’Aiguader, Cal Batlle, Cal Caçador, Cal Pacient (Obaguetes), Casa Agustí, Casa Bergua (of new construction), Casa Carlets, Casa Condó, Casa Cortit, Casa Dominguet, Casa Maestre, Casa Margalida, Casa Masió, Casa Miquel, Casa Mostatxo, Casa Músic, Casa Pacient, Casa Pauet, Casa Pedro, Casa Rei, Casa Salse, Casa Sarrà, Casa Sidro, Casa Teuet, Casa Toribio, Casa Xaet, Casa Xoneu, and the farmhouses: Mas d’Ensenyat, Mas de Ciutat, Mas de Faro, Mas de Palací and Masia del Caçador. There are the hermitages of Sant Roc and la Mare de Déu de Montserbós. And there are also l’Abadia, l’Avellana, l’era de Canerol, l’era de Goyet, L’era de Manelo (Costa), l’era del Llarc, the School, the Church (Sant Joan), la Caseta, the farm (of new construction) and La Roureda.
The actual population is of 22 inhabitants.
